Okay, I have been experimenting with new method for mixed media or collage.
And this is what I came up with. It took about a week to glue down papers and sweing by hand. Beside the time thing, I like the result. Textures and the movement are working with the theme "Cloud Bus" Hoping others like this, too.

that uses the similar style to my watercolor style. Hmmm..now I need to send something
to them. I think.

The guide in books and surveys gives me some confusions.
Like, art samples mean the portfolio?
Tear sheets? Ha... hmmmm.. What is that? and Do I have it?

If I am going to do, I want to do it right, thinking of the cost for each portfolio, if that is what it means.

Working on a story for my new animation

This animation is inspired by the song "L.O.V.E" by Olivia Ong. This version is kinda young and fresh feeling, but somehow this song evoked the idea of fresh love story of older people.

A grandma and a grandpa met at a park. They started to have good feeling to each other and to like each other. One day, the grandpa ask the grandma a date, and they started to date. After the happy dates for a while, the grandpa stopped coming to the park to meet grandma and could not be contacted one day. The grandma kept waiting for him. As time goes by, the grandma was disappointed to the grandpa who suddenly disappeared. So she left the park. Right that moment, the grandpa ran to catch her. And they came back to the bench which they met all the time. The grandpa started to explain to her about what happen to him. (I need to make up his story.)
The grandma smiled at him. It made a sense to her. The grandpa hesitated a little bit and then took a ring out of his pocket. He proposed her, and she smiled.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... what would be the good excuse? I am thinking thinking thinking....

This week's subject for Illustration Friday is 'Dusty.' I illustrated a girl who is told that the window is DUSTY and her embarrassment.

When I was a teen, I was not really an organizing and cleaning girl. Then every once in a while, mom came into my room and told me with her finger with some dust from window frames. "Gosh! What is this? Clean your room, please." Then, I answer with embarrassment and annoyance.

What can I say... I am not a good girl all the time.

Every year around Christmas season, my mother-in-law asks me what I want for Christmas. In my brother-in-law's case, he used to give a whole list of items. Me?? I have a list. However, how can I give that list to her? I know she really wants to know in order to make things easy. I know it will be handy for her, because I want one from her and father-in-law. (I don't want to know what my grandma-in-law, because they are going to be a little.... a little... expensive.)
Anyway, it is always tricky to answer that question every year.

Since the beginning of this October...

Beiggning of October, I started giddy up to finish the book project up, and it needed to be done by the end of October. With my habbit of putting things to the last minute, I had literally tons of things to do.
In the middle of October, I think it was 16th or something, Spencer got a unofficial job offer from Qualcomm in Raleigh.
Abouth two weeks later, he got the official job offer. But we did not know any specific date of starting the new work or any information about moving plan. They said the relocating company will contact us, and of course, it took several days. During this three weeks period, Spencer and I were cleaning the house and organizing some stuff to put the house for sale before we move out. However, me working, Spencer working, we could not make much of progress on it.
Couple days later, we got somewhat concrete plan for moving.
By this time, I was almost done with the book, but still with some little things.
The weekend of that week, I think it was Nov 5, we flew to Raleigh, met relatives for a day, and had an apartment signed, and then came back to KS on Nov. 10th.
Before this apartment trip, Spencer officially quit Garmin.
On 11th, Me and Spencer kept doing the house work, and I had the greatest last illustration dinner with my illustration folks that night. ㅠㅠ
On 12th, I think packing people came on this day. Maybe it was 13th.
Anyway, 13th we did working on the house. Sadly missed LeAnn's Bachelorette party!
On 14th, working on the house, had farewell party with Garmin people in the house filled with boxes.
On 15th, Loading people came. It took a lot more time than we thought. Loading was not just about moving boxes. That night, Spencer and I cleaned the house completely, a little paints here and there, vacuuming, wiping, all fianl cleaning works. We took a photo of us, and left the house with crying. Seriously, it was really sad. Spencer and I kept dating that house, married, and had a kid in that house. Also, I finished the school, too. Lots of GOOD memories. Anyway, we started to drive that night.
On 16th morning, we arrived at Springfield, AR for Jodi's passport. Luckly, we got her passport that day right at the passport agency. We kept driving, driving, and driving.
On 18th, we arrived at Raleigh, and checked in to the apartment. With the schedule, our stuff will come and unloaded either 19th or 20th.
HOWEVER, it came on 21st. For that two days in the literally empty house, all three of us had pretty hard time.
On 21st, movers came and unloaded and that night we unpacked some of stuff. I almost finished the kitchen stuff!! Then we started to pack. Why????

On 22nd in the morning, we went to RDU airport to go to Korea. Thankfully, the first flight was delayed, so we missed the second flight, too. With the new flights, we went to JFK airport in NY and waited for the next flight for 11hours.
On 24th in the early morning, me, Spencer and Jodi were in Korea. (We did not know while we were in the plane, North Koreans were bombing Yunpyung-do.) On the same day, we move from Seoul to Kyungju.
Nest two days were about meeting relatives and having feast.
27th, we came back to Seoul with horrible traffic. It usually takes 4-5 hours from Kyungju to Seoul by driving. This day, we left my dad's house at 9 in the morning, and got to my brother's apartment at 5 in the afternoon. Especially near Seoul, it took two hours to move 10 km.
28th My family had a party for Jodi's first birthday, and I met one group of my friends.
29th, Spencer's BD and there was a new born from my brother! Excitedly, Uncle and nephew have the same BD.
30th, I had met four group of friends. - -;;;; It was awesome to meet my deer friends, but it was kinda sick to meet people after and after to be honest. But I could not miss any of them, because I don't come to Korea that often, and they are all really close friends for years.
1st, It was another meeting friends day and visiting the new born again.
2nd, intentionally, I did not put any schedule. I got to admit that I almost abandoned my poor hubby and baby during the Korea trip. (Hubby... if you feel bad about it, then learn Korean, then it would not happen.) So... - -;;; we went shopping. That night, we had another family feast, them packed stuff.
On 3rd, we are back to USA

After all these crazy schedule, I have unpacked and organized the apartment for the last few days, and it is almost done except 4-5 boxes. Now I feel like I am settled in Raleigh and very glad that I could finish this writing before the baby wakes up! ^0^

이건 뭐 놀라움, 희열, 환희 등이 섞여 나오는데.. 진정 이넘은 내가 돈 벌어오기를 바라고 있었구나..라는 생각이 들었다.

자기는 내가 돈 버나 안 버나 상관없다하는 데 그 표정을 본 이 후 이 밀려오는 씁쓸함의 쓰나미는 막을 수가 없다.

It's 24'*18' size. So it's quite big. Don't remember how much I spend for the Plexiglas. Used scrap wood pieces at home, nailed and glued. CHEAP but Strong and portable.
I've been using it, and it's awesome.

#1. A pair of sandals

This happened a few month ago.
We had a plan to go to a vacation to Florida. I was excited and opened my wish list on a shopping website that I recently found. Among them, there was a pair of sandals that I wanted to buy, thinking I am going to use for at least 2 years. I had that sandals in my mind for more than a month. Finally, I was going to buy. However, right before that, I asked to my husband how he think. WOW! He was cool. He was like, "looks good, go ahead and buy it." YAY! So I was going to click to check out. All a sudden, at the moment of about to click, my husband started to be frustrated by the credit card bill.....
Why.... Why.... WHY?

Of course, I could not buy that pair of sandals that I had in my mind for more than a month. I still have not bought that. Now the season is over, and getting cold....

Guys, please don't talk about credit card bill right before your girl's shopping.

#2. Insecticide

This happened a few days ago.
Well, you might experienced someone who gets bites a lot. Somehow that person attracts insects very well. Well... it seems like that is me. Last few days, I got many many bites, even though I stayed at home. Good thing is my baby did not get anything. I feel like I protected my baby pretty good. Anyway, so I suggested to spray some insecticide thing to my husband. He said no, because of Jodi, the baby. He did not want her to get any of those bad thing. Acceptible. So I suggested again I can put her upstairs while the spray settle down. (He missed this part, and that led to a misunderstanding) Anyway, he did say no.

Later on, I rethought that conversation, scratching my leg, arm, and back to toe. Hmmmm... this is my house, too, and I am the one who stays at home the most and gets all bites. But I don't even have a right to spray insecticide?
I understand he is from a family who care about spraying that stuff, but I am from a family who doesn't care about spraying stuff at all but being bitten.

Today, I read this article from 김제동의 똑똑똑, then somehow I thought about Istvan Banyai who showed Kim C kind of artistic attitude.

“나를 지금까지 오게 한 것은 ‘자뻑’이 대부분이야. 예전에 술자리에서 음악평론가와 붙은 적이 있는데 결국 그가 주장하는 것이 나를 납득시키지 못하더군. 내 결론은 ‘당신을 위해 만든 것 아니니 드시던 술이나 계속 드시라’고 했지.”

- 그러고 나면 죄책감이나 두려움 같은 느낌 들지 않아?

“물론 가끔씩 ‘너무 재수없게 보였나’하는 죄책감도 들긴 해. 그렇지만 난 오만하고 이기적인 직업군에 있는 사람이야. 이래도 된다고 생각해.”

Hey! I just came back from ICON 6 yesterday. It was my first attendance, and it was AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME x 1000. I could meet tons of amazing illustrators including some of my idols, such as John Hendrix, Istvan Banyai, and Yuko Shimizu. Yes, it was expensive to go there, but I truly felt it was worth every penny. Because it is one of the events that you can build the social connection with other illustrators, art directors, publishers, who might, might not hire you.

I decided to have ME time to relieve from just being a mom and a wife on Friday night since last week, because I was depressed by being stuck at home all day 24/7 pretty much, and then having my fresh air from either Wal-Mart, Target, or Price Chopper. I didn't really talk about it with my hubby about it. BUT seriously? Do I really need permission to go to a bookstore on Friday night after dinner and all?

However, I (sort of) invited my hubby and baby to ME time, thinking my hubby will respect that time. YES, right. I haven't talked about it, but he seem to be acknowledging it! I packed the computer, books, and sketchbook and everything, thinking I am going to have some researching time and whatever. I thought I can do whatever I need to do and want to do, while my hubby is taking care of Jodi.

We went to the Borders, and then we went to the parenting section, look through some books together. I brought some books and mags to the table. A little bit after he came to the table, too. At the table, baby was fussy with hunger, so I fed Jodi, while my hus looked through the books that I brought. He seemed bored to sit there after looking through them all. I brought a cup of coffee and then he left to look through more books. Guess who left at the table? Me and the fussy baby! And the people at the table by us had the aura of "Gosh! why are they even here at this time with that dxxx baby?" All a sudden, I was the sorry mom and needed to leave.

Can I really blame my hus? I blame my stupidity! Why did I even give the chance? I feel like I was supposed to know this will happen. YES! I am the idiot, stupid, whatever dumb blah.
